The Circus, Basseterre

The Circus, Basseterre

The structure with the clocks on all four faces is a hybrid of two monuments from England, Big Ben at Westminster and the Piccadilly Circus in London.  The structure was built in the Sun Foundry, Glasgow Scotland and erected in 1883 in honor of a former British planter and President of the Legislative Council of this island, Thomas Berkley.  Around the Circus area there are a number of banks, shops, bars and restaurants. The Circus area serves as the main Taxi Stand in the City of Basseterre.
